X Reader
Privacy policy
How your information is processed, where it is stored, and the choices you control.
Processing in your browser
X page data is processed locally to filter posts and adjust the reading experience.
Settings may sync
Chrome can synchronize your preferences, including keywords and custom CSS.
Optional draft transfer
Typefully is off by default. A draft is transferred only when you click its action.
Purpose and scope
X Reader organizes the X and X Pro reading experience through post filters, media browsing preferences and an optional Minimal interface. This policy describes the extension’s data handling. X, Chrome/Google and optional third-party destinations operate under their own policies. X Reader is independent of X, Minimal Theme and Typefully. This policy also covers support emails sent to the publisher and visits to this policy page. It does not replace policies for other paintcanfarm websites, accounts, stores or services.
Information processed in your browser
- X page and timeline information: the extension reads supported timeline responses and page content, including post identifiers, dates, like counts, text and media/type metadata. It also reads the current X URL/path and relevant interface labels to apply filters, recognize page context and adjust navigation or layout. This may include content available through your signed-in X account.
- Preferences: switches, numeric thresholds, display options, sidebar keywords and custom CSS entered in the settings are saved in
chrome.storage.sync. Depending on your Chrome settings, Google may synchronize these preferences across your devices. Preferences are therefore not guaranteed to remain only on one device. - Page diagnostics: the popup shows temporary aggregate counts such as posts removed before display or hidden on the page. These counts are held in page memory; the extension does not build a persistent post-content or browsing-history log.
- Optional draft transfer: when you explicitly use the Typefully draft action described below, the extension reads the text belonging to that composer and, when unambiguously identifiable, its replied-to post URL.
Use and transfer
Post filtering and layout processing run in your browser. The current extension has no developer-operated collection endpoint, telemetry, advertising analytics or remote executable code. It does not send timeline content or diagnostic counts to the publisher. It does not deliberately collect passwords or authentication cookies; X’s own requests and sign-in remain managed by X and the browser.
Data is used for the user-facing features described here. It is not sold or used for advertising, profiling or unrelated purposes. The publisher’s use and transfer of information through this extension are limited to these disclosed features, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.
Optional Typefully and other external links
Typefully options are off by default. Enabling them adds clearly marked actions and links; it does not automatically send a draft. Clicking “Open draft in Typefully” opens an HTTPS URL containing the selected composer’s text and, when verified, its reply-reference URL. Unrelated editors are not combined. Multiple editors are included together only when a shared native form and toolbar establish common composer ownership. Ambiguous or stale ownership prevents the action.
This action does not publish an X post and does not copy images or attachments. Draft text and reply references are included in URL parameters. The URL may remain in browser history, synchronized history where enabled, and destination logs or other records controlled by Typefully. Opening another external-service link sends a normal browser request to that destination. The destination and its infrastructure receive ordinary connection information, such as the IP address; their policies govern further handling. The extension uses noopener and noreferrer on these openings.
Storage, retention and your controls
Filtering inputs are processed temporarily for the active page. The extension does not save tweet bodies in its preference storage; X and Chrome may maintain their own caches independently. Preferences remain in Chrome extension storage until changed, reset or removed according to Chrome’s storage and synchronization behavior. “Restore defaults” resets the extension’s preferences, including clearing its saved sidebar keywords and custom CSS. Turn off optional Typefully features to remove their actions; turn off X Reader to pause its features. Refresh X to retrieve posts removed from earlier timeline responses.
You can review and change preferences in Full settings, control synchronization through Chrome settings, or remove the extension in Chrome. Resetting or uninstalling does not erase X/Typefully records, already transferred drafts, or browser history. Manage those separately with the respective service or browser. The publisher cannot remotely retrieve or delete preference copies that it does not receive.
Resources and security
Executable code, styles and the Inter font are bundled with the extension. The custom CSS editor rejects external resource-loading constructs. Website access is limited by the manifest to https://x.com/* and https://pro.x.com/*; the Minimal interface applies to standard X. The only declared extension API permission is storage. Optional Typefully transfers use HTTPS. The extension does not provide its own encryption service for Chrome storage; Chrome controls its storage and synchronization security.
Support correspondence
For privacy questions or extension support, contact orz_can@paintcanfarm.com. If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments or diagnostic details you choose to provide. Our email provider processes the delivery and storage of that correspondence. We use it to respond, investigate the issue and provide related follow-up, not for advertising.
We retain support correspondence only as needed for those purposes and appropriate recordkeeping, security or legal requirements. No fixed deletion period is promised. You may ask us to correct or delete support information we control by emailing the same address; we handle requests subject to applicable requirements. We cannot delete information held independently by Chrome, X or Typefully.
Please share only what is necessary for your request. Do not send passwords, account tokens or private drafts.
Visiting this policy page
This static page has no analytics scripts, tracking pixels, remote fonts or advertising. Its language and color-theme controls run in your browser. The page does not set cookies or save your selection in local storage; a chosen language may appear in the page URL.
The page is served through Google Firebase Hosting, which processes request information such as IP addresses for delivery, abuse prevention and usage reporting. Hosting data is handled under the provider’s terms; see Firebase Privacy and Security. This is separate from the extension’s local processing. Clicking an external link or an email link uses your browser or mail application and the destination service.
Policy updates
This policy is effective from September 9, 2026 and describes X Reader version 4.2.1. If the extension’s data practices materially change, we will update this page and provide applicable product disclosures before the changed practices begin. The effective date above identifies this version of the policy.
The extension’s information use and transfer follow the disclosed features and the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.
